Let's Go Back to the Bible

April 30, a Special Time for Women

While there are so many activities in the church which involve every member, there are those times which have special appeal to smaller groups. Over the years we have had Vacation Bible Schools, Central Florida Bible Camp and Pew Packers with their focus on young people. At one time our Agape Groups were divided by ages, and we often have special classes designed for certain age groups. However, none of these can be compared to the Ladies’ Day conducted every April. Can you believe that this year marks the twenty-seventh time this event will be conducted! It is such a special time for women.

It is a special time for women to enjoy being with each other. So many who come to this event are members of smaller congregations, and the time to sit and visit with hundreds of other women is such a treat. The fact that many drive great distances year after year shows the importance of this.

It is a special time for women to be fed. The evening begins at 6:30 with a meal prepared by the ladies at Palm Beach Lakes. It is truly an outstanding meal, but nothing to compare with the spiritual feast which follows. Becky Blackmon returns to PBL for a third visit to provide the spiritual thoughts for that evening.

It is a special time for women to be served. Our women deserve to be honored in so many ways, and one way this happens is when the men at PBL become the servers and “clean up crew” for the evening. Ladies, the men at PBL love and respect you and are so thankful for all you give to us throughout the year.

It is a special time for women to be strengthened. When you think about all that happens on that evening, beginning when women arrive and continuing until everyone has left, there is not doubt about the spiritual strengthening for all who come. The singing, the prayers, the lesson and the great fellowship change lives.

It is a special time for women to honor God. The real focus of the evening is not on the speaker, the servers, those who lead prayers or lead singing. The focus is on God and all He has done, is doing and will do in our lives. It is so refreshing to praise and honor Him.

So mark your calendars. Thursday night, April 30th, at 6:30. Husbands, make sure you volunteer to keep the kids and ensure your wife attends. It will make a difference in the lives of all who are involved in this effort!
