Let's Go Back to the Bible

13 Things Every Teen Needs to Know (#2)

I hope you are truly considering and are convinced (by real evidence) that there is a God and He is alive!  That truth is the foundation of who we are, for it tells us “where we came from.”  I have something else that I hope you will truly consider, take to heart and keep with you for the rest of your life.

Lock this in your heart:  God loves you and wants to save you! That’s a pretty incredible thought, that the all-powerful Creator of this universe even knows who we are and cares anything about us.  But He does! And, it gets even more incredible, because the very people—whom He made in His image (Gen. 1:27) and to whom He gave life, breath and all things (Acts 17:25)—turned against Him, rejected His will and condemned their souls by their sin, and He still loved them and wanted to save them!

Truth: God loves you! It makes you feel good when somebody loves you and tells you they love you, but this isn’t just any somebody!  This is God!  He knows everything about us (good and bad) and wants us to know He loves us!  He does not love us because of anything that we’ve done, or because we loved Him first, or because we deserve it!  Quite the opposite!  “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us…We love Him because He first loved us” (1 Jn. 4:10, 19).

Truth: God showed you how much He loves you! You’ve heard that “actions speak louder than words.”  God not only tells us in words that He loves us, but His love was manifested when He “sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (1 Jn. 4:9).  That’s a pretty powerful message of His tremendous love for you!

Truth: God loves you no matter what! There is nothing that you can do to make God stop loving you!  There is nothing that you can do to make God stop wanting you to be saved!  His love is unconditional!  That’s what agape love means!  His “love is patient and is kind,” and His love “love never fails” (1 Cor. 13:4, 8).  That doesn’t mean that He thinks our sin is okay or that He doesn’t mind if we reject Him every-so-often.  Not at all!  But, it does mean that He always loves us and is always ready to pick us up and receive us back.  Paul was “persuaded that [nothing] shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:35-39).  That’s pretty amazing!

Truth: God wants you to be saved! The whole reason He sent Jesus was to save you (Matt. 1:21; 18:11).  God wants everybody (including you!) to be saved (1 Tim. 2:4), and He doesn’t want anybody (including you!) to be lost (2 Pet. 3:9)!

I know it’s hard to fully comprehend the magnitude of God’s love, but always remember this:  God loves YOU!
