Sometimes Christians can grow discouraged and weary from battling the forces of evil and ungodliness in this life. There is nothing Satan wants more than for a child of God to get so worn down and frustrated that he finally just gives up. There are certainly temptations to endure (1 Cor. 10:13; Jas. 1:12-15), afflictions to bear (2 Cor. 4:17; 2 Tim. 4:5), persecutions to suffer (2 Tim. 3:12; Matt. 5:10-12), hardships to undergo (2 Tim. 2:3; 1:8), insults to tolerate (Luke 6:22; 1 Pet. 4:14), etc., etc. But, don’t lose heart! Don’t abandon the Lord!
Whatever we suffer in this life, in comparison and in the grand scheme of things, is “light” (2 Cor. 4:17), “but for a moment” (2 Cor. 4:17), “for a little while” (1 Pet. 1:6), and “not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Rom. 8:18). For those things that we endure here are “working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Cor. 4:17), a “great…reward in heaven” (Matt. 5:12), for we “will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (Jas. 1:12). It is more than worth it! It is more than we deserve!
