Let's Go Back to the Bible

“Not now, Jesus. You’re just gonna have to wait!”

It is flat out amazing, mind-boggling and frustrating how lots of folks respond (or don’t respond) to Emergency Vehicles today.  It happens often, but I saw it again recently.  A fire engine slowly approached and entered an intersection with sirens and horns at full volume (and I mean FULL).  You’ve seen these trucks…they’re HUGE…they’re red (actually, this one was neon green) and then you add the flashing/flashing/flashing lights and the piercing cries of the sirens.  I watched in utter bewilderment as this massive, loud, flashing EMERGENCY vehicle came to a dead stop in the dead center of the intersection.  And there he sat for probably 30 seconds, because driver after driver continued to speed right by in front of the truck without a single hesitation.  They could not be inconvenienced.  Many of them appeared to break away from their cell phone conversations long enough to yell at the flashing truck as they passed by.  Outrageous!

It made me think of Jesus’ return, when “every eye shall see Him” (Rev. 1:7) and “all…will hear Him” (John 5:28-29).  However, I’m sure some will say, “Not now…You’ll have to wait!”
