Are you tired of all the lies (and liars)? Have you wearied of not being able to trust certain people because of their frequent choices to speak untruths? Our typical reaction to lies is one of frustration, exasperation, anger, evasion, complaining and maybe even gossip. Have you ever stopped and thought about praying for the ones who lie to you, about you or around you?
The psalmist did just that in Psalm 120. “In my distress I cried to the LORD, And He heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you, Or what shall be done to you, You false tongue?…My soul has dwelt too long With one who hates peace. I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.”
There may be very little that YOU can do for someone who struggles with telling the truth, but what do you suppose God can do? The next time someone lies to you, about you or around you, stop and pray for them. Then, find a way to let them know you are praying for them.
