Picture in your mind a pie chart. (Or, if you’re particularly hungry, picture your favorite pie.) This pie is to represent the waking hours during a typical week in your life (do not include your sleep time). Now, on that pie, mark the slice that represents how much you work in a typical week. Got it? How much is left? Now, mark a slice of that pie to represent how much recreation and downtime you have in a typical week (including your time on computer, internet, television, games, out with friends, etc.). Got both of those marked? How much is left? Now, mark a slice to represent how much time you spend in the car. Mark a slice for how much time you spend in household responsibilities each week. Ok, how much is left? Now, mark a slice for how much time you give to God in a typical week. (You knew that was coming.)
What is the biggest slice in your pie? What’s the second biggest? Is the slice for God in the top three? Honestly, how big is God’s slice? Ok, now think of this another way. Instead of thinking of God getting one slice of the pie, consider the fact that the whole pie belongs to God!
