The English word “precious” is found 15 times in the New Testament, over half used by Peter.
Peter used the word to describe the value of Jesus in our lives – “chosen by God and precious” (1 Pet. 2:4, 6); “to you who believe, He is precious” (1 Pet. 2:7).
Peter used the word to describe the value of the blood of Jesus – “redeemed…with the precious blood of Christ” (1 Pet. 1:19).
Peter used the word to describe the value of our faith in Jesus – “the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold” (1 Pet. 1:7), “like precious faith” (2 Pet. 1:1).
Peter used the word to describe the value of the promises God has made to us – “by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises” (2 Pet. 1:4).
Peter used the word to describe the value of inward beauty over outward – “the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God” (1 Pet. 3:4)
These things were highly valuable and precious to Peter. How about you?
