God is always looking for those that are standing for what is right or standing in the gap (Ezek. 22:30). God has given us what is needed to be able to stand today and stand forever.
Preparation is key to any endeavor, especially when it is connected to our service to God. It would make sense then that God has given us the tools to stand prepared in this life. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil…Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore…” (Eph. 6:10-14). The full armor of God is so that we can stand firm. In this passage, we are told what it is for and then given the imperative to use it. The application of such a passage is readily available. God asks us to stand, expects us to stand and gives us the tools by which we can stand in this life against the influences of Satan.
How will I be able to stand in the judgment? God has yet again provided. With the opening of the sixth seal in the book of Revelation, we are given an image of judgment. All the bad things that were commonly associated with end times were mentioned, and then “they said to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” (Rev. 6:16-17). The last question—“Who is able to stand in the face of the judgment of the Lamb?”—is as much a statement of despair as it is a question. Yet, it is answered in chapter seven.
“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’… Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, ‘These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?’…These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb…They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Rev. 7:9-17). If we stand now and fight the good fight, we are promised that we will stand forever in eternity with Him.
