Black Friday is just around the corner and specials are being heavily advertised and promoted everywhere you go. On that day, you can get steeply discounted products and find great buys that are not available on any other day of the year. Unfortunately, you have to wait for that day to arrive to enjoy its benefits. Just wait…wait…wait. How blessed we are as Christians that the “specials” which God has to offer us are not blessings for which we have to wait!
You can have forgiveness right now! You don’t have to wait until a special day or a special ceremony! If you’re not a Christian, forgiveness of every sin is available to you right now! Saul was urged, “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). If you are a Christian, forgiveness of every sin remains available to you right now! John reminds us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). As Christians, let us rejoice that “now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). We don’t have to wait around for it!
You can have fellowship with God right now! Have you ever received an invitation to someone’s house, but you had to wait several days or weeks until the day arrived that you could go? Not with God! You don’t have to wait! He has invited you to enjoy an ongoing fellowship with Him in His house right now! Yes, He most certainly has invited you to enjoy an eternal fellowship with Him in heaven for ever and ever, but that is something you will have to wait to enjoy. But, right now, you can have “fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” and walk with them each and every day (1 John 1:3-7)! We don’t have to wait around for it!
You can friendship with God right now! There are some people, who are unknown to you today, who will become your friends some time in the future. Sometimes on Facebook, I might send a “Friend Request” but not get a response for quite some time. God doesn’t operate that way! You don’t have to wait around for Him to respond to a friend request! You can enjoy a friendship with Him right now! Jesus said, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (John 15:13). So, if I obey the commands of Jesus, I not only can have forgiveness right now, I not only can have fellowship with God right now, I can be His friend right now! When Abraham trusted and obeyed, “he was called the friend of God” (Jas. 2:23). We don’t have to wait around for it!
For retail “specials,” you’ll have to wait around for the day to come. For God’s “specials,” you can have them, enjoy them and share them RIGHT NOW! Are you missing any?
