Let's Go Back to the Bible

“The world revolves around me”

It absolutely blows my mind how wrapped up in themselves so many people are today. When I was a kid, if we saw a car coming and we were on or near the road, we would get out of the way as quickly as possible. Today, if someone is in the street and sees a car coming, they have no compulsion at all to move. In fact, because the whole world revolves around them, they behave as if the whole world must wait until times and seasons are convenient for them. The same can be seen today when workers at various stores and restaurants don’t have time to take care of customers because they are too busy “playing” on their phones. It all revolves around them.

Isn’t it interesting how Jesus emphasized that the whole world would know who His disciples are by their selfless behavior toward others? “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Agape love is that unconditional, unselfish, do-what-is-best-for-others approach to living. Those who exercise agape love do not believe the world revolves around them; just the opposite, they let the world revolve around others!  Try it sometime–it’ll blow your mind!
