Let's Go Back to the Bible

You’ve gotta love it in order to be saved!

We know that a person must believe in Jesus as the Christ in order to be saved (Acts 16:31).  And, we know that a penitent believer must be baptized in order to be saved (Mark 16:16).  But, did you know there is something a person must love in order to be saved?  (This is not “Someone” a person must love, like God or Jesus, but “something” a person must love.)

In 2 Thessalonians 2:10, Paul talked about “those who perish,” and he said that they perish “because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”  We know that Jesus said a person must “know the truth” in order to be freed from sin (John 8:32); and we know that Peter said a person must “obey the truth” in order to purify the soul (1 Pet. 1:22).  I must know the truth.  I must obey the truth.  Moreover, I must love the truth to be saved!

Do you love the truth of God’s Word?  The psalmist declared four times in Psalm 119, “I love your law!”  Do you?  If you don’t love it, you cannot be saved!
