Sometimes there are Christians, for one reason or another, who act like the devil is so powerful and the world is so strong that Christians are just barely going to overcome and win, and that it might be a “close finish.” Such could NOT be further from the truth!
Our God is eternal! The devil is NOT! Our God is all-powerful! The devil is NOT! It does NOT matter how imposing or threatening things may seem, such as “death…life…principalities…rulers…powers…present things…future things…insurmountable things…anything else in all creation.” Make your list of things that makes you feel like an underdog as a Christian (like these from Romans 8:38-39), and then remember the verse right before this list. “Yet in ALL these things we are MORE than conquerors through HIM who loved us” (8:37).
This verse does NOT say that we are conquerors. That would be great. No! This verse says that we are “MORE than conquerors”! You are NOT an underdog! You are “overwhelmingly” (NASB) victorious, because our “God…is greater” (1 John 4:4; cf. 5:4-5; 2 Cor. 2:14; Rev. 12:11).
