When Jesus was only 12 years old, his parents inadvertently left Him behind in Jerusalem as they began their journey home following Passover (Luke 2:41-44). Upon returning to the city, they found Him in the temple, “sitting” with the teachers, “listening to them,” “asking them questions” and giving His own “understanding and answers” (2:46-47). When His mother came to Him, young Jesus said, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” (2:49). It really was no surprise where Jesus was and what He was doing!
Here’s something to think about. If people who know you happened to find you “in church,” or saw you singing and praying in worship, or saw you partaking of the Lord’s Supper, or watched you taking notes in Bible class, or heard you make a Biblically-based comment in Bible class, would they be surprised to find you there and to see what you’re doing?
If those who know you do not know where to find you on Sundays and Wednesdays, why not?
