Let's Go Back to the Bible

Wonderful Words of Life

Over 140 years ago. Philip P. Bliss penned the words to a beautiful hymn, which should resonate in our hearts and be perceptible in our daily lives. It is so easy today to become absorbed in our culture, in our media and in the cares of this world that we just…forget. We forget who we are. We forget how good we have it. We forget our prime objective.

The writer’s last name (i.e., Bliss) says it all. This should be our blissful, hopeful, resolute and daily focus: “Sing them over again to me, Wonderful words of Life; Let me more of their beauty see, Wonderful words of Life. Words of life and beauty, Teach me faith and duty; Beautiful words, wonderful words, Wonderful words of Life.”

After many of His disciples had abandoned Him, Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:66-68). May we today find renewed comfort and determination in His wonderful words of life!
