Peter describes heaven as an inheritance for children of God–an inheritance that is “incorruptible and undefiled and fades not away” (1 Pet. 1:4). Then, to affirm its absolute assurance, he tells us these three things about this promise.
First, the inheritance is “reserved.” The inheritance isn’t going anywhere! It is being guarded, kept and preserved in heaven for God’s heirs. How certain do you feel about God’s reservation?
Second, the heirs are being “kept.” Not only is the inheritance being guarded, kept and preserved, the heirs themselves are being watched over and guarded. It’s a military term.
Third, all of this reserving, guarding, preserving and keeping is being down by the “power” of God. The Greek word here gives us our word–“dynamite.” There’s no power like God’s power!
Child of God! You can know with absolute certainty that God has reserved a home for you in heaven, and His power is keeping the inheritance and the heirs “ready” to be joined!
