Each year for our lectureship, we move our midweek service from Wednesday night to Thursday night, which means we don’t have a service on Wednesday night. That day just never feels right, because we are so accustomed to meeting with the church on Wednesday night but we don’t meet that day. The whole day is just “thrown off’ for me.
I wonder if that is how it feels when a Christians stops attending services regularly. If you attend Wednesday nights regularly and then start missing, does the day not feel right? Is it thrown off? If you attend Sunday nights regularly and then start missing, does the day feel “off”? I would imagine it feels “off” for a while, but then something else begins to fill that void and take its place. After a while, missing wouldn’t feel weird anymore, it would just start to feel normal.
When you don’t get to attend services at a “normal service time,” does the day just seem “off” to you? Thank God that He made us as worshiping creatures who get to worship together!
