When you look at a child’s face, can you sometimes see the resemblance to their parents? Maybe their eyes or their mouth reminds you of their parent’s eyes or mouth. As you know, it is not just the physical features that they will mirror, but their behavior will follow suit as well.
This is especially noticeable in the church setting. The children that you see carrying their Bible to church are ones who are emulating mom or dad. You may be surprised to consider that children’s conduct and involvement in worship almost always parallels precisely their parents. If parents pay attention, participate, take notes and enjoy worship, as a general rule, you’ll find their children do, also. But, if parents have their heads down the whole time (looking at their phone or reading a book or doing something else) and do not really engage in the worship service, as a general rule, you’ll find their children will do the same.
Parents, you are THE major influence in the spiritual direction of your child. Take it seriously.
