Most everyone likes a little seasoning to enhance the taste of their food. For some, it might be some mild seasoning just to bring out certain flavors. Others want the bold seasoning or let’s just say…spicy and extra spicy. What about when it comes to our speech?
Most everyone flavors their speech with some kind of seasoning. There are rarely any words that are ever spoken on this earth that do not have some “taste” to them. Unfortunately, some speech is flavored with bold and spicy seasoning that comes out with “bitter,” “evil,” “angry,” “filthy,” “corrupt” and “deceitful” words (Eph. 4:20-31; Col. 3:5-11).
How would your speech change if it was seasoned with love? What if every word from your mouth was doused (not just sprinkled) with a heavy helping of love? What if every word was patient, kind, humble, selfless, longsuffering, sacrificial, forgiving, peaceful, truthful, protective, trusting, encouraging, etc. (see 1 Cor. 13:4-7)? How would your speech be different?
