Let's Go Back to the Bible

Satan can push on the door, but only you can open it

The account of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 provides a number of vital lessons which every Christian needs to learn, including the operation of Satan on a person’s heart. From the first chapter in Job, we learn that Satan cannot operate beyond the realm permitted by God (we see this in 1 Corinthians 10:13 also). From Acts 5, we learn that Satan cannot operate beyond the realm permitted by the individual himself/herself who is being tempted.

Peter asked Ananias in verse 3, “Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit…?” From this question, someone may wrongly conclude that it was Satan’s fault and that Ananias had no power over himself and his actions. But, read the next verse. Peter then asked Ananias, “Why have you conceived this thing in your heart?” Wait a minute, who “conceived” this idea? It was the desire of Ananias (read James 1:14-15). Satan just took advantage of it.

Satan will knock on the door of your heart. It’s up to you if you let him in or not!
