Let's Go Back to the Bible

Principles about money that do not change!

Turn again and read the inspired wisdom of Solomon.  This time, look at what he said about money.  Scripture tells us that “King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches” (1 Kings 10:23).  So, perhaps, he might know a thing or two about money.

–   “He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver” (Ecc. 5:10).  The key to the verse is the word “loves” (see “the love of money” also in 1 Timothy 6:10).

–   “He who loves abundance [will not be satisfied] with increase” (5:10).  If I love getting more, I will not actually be content once I have more.  Then, I will just want even more!

–   “As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away” (5:15; cf. 1 Tim. 6:7).

–   “What profit has he who has labored for the wind?” (5:16).  Jesus asked, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matt. 16:26).

When it comes to man and his money, there is nothing new under the sun!
