Let's Go Back to the Bible

Praying for one another made easy

Don’t you like it when things are made easy for you? We love meals that are “made easy” or tax filings that are “made easy” or online purchases that are “made easy.” What about when activities in a Christian’s life are made easy?

A present tense (signifying ongoing activity) imperative verb (indicating a command of God) is recorded in James 5:16 – “Pray for one another.” What if that was made easy for you?

The church bulletin is “praying for one another” made easy! It lists the names of the elders, deacons, preachers and office staff. Brethren, pray for one another. It lists the names of our missionaries. Brethren, pray for one another. It lists those who are grieving the death of a family member. Brethren, pray for one another. It lists those who are dealing with physical illnesses. Brethren, pray for one another. It lists our shut-ins. Brethren, pray for one another. The church directory is “praying for one another” made easy…on steroids! It lists every member and child in this congregation. Brethren, pray for one another…one page at a time!
