Let's Go Back to the Bible

Perhaps he is sleeping

When the 450 prophets of Baal were unable to “convince” their god to answer their continued pleas, the Bible says that “Elijah mocked them” (1 Kings 18:27).  One of the “possibilities” that Elijah proposed regarding Baal was, “perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”  Can you imagine serving a god who needed to be awakened, like some old man taking a nap?

The reality is that there is only one true God (Eph. 4:6; Isa. 43:10; 44:6; 45:5)!  And the one true God (the One whom we serve, the One from whence our help comes, the One who is our keeper, the One who is our shade, the One who preserves us from all evil) “shall neither slumber nor sleep” (Psa. 121:3; cf. vs. 1-8).  There is never a time when our God must be awakened!  There is never a time when our God nods off while we’re talking to Him!  There is never a time when our God even gets sleepy and doses off in the middle of the day or night!

No matter the time, no matter the trouble, our God is ready and waiting for our call!
