Let's Go Back to the Bible

Make more deposits than withdraws

We all understand the concept of deposits into and withdraws out of our bank account. We understand that we must deposit more money into our account than we withdraw, lest our account is overdrawn, we have a negative balance, and we are penalized or cut off entirely. In his book, His Needs, Her Needs, Willard Harley introduced the concept that you have a “Love Bank” account in all of your relationships. And, in order to maintain a positive, healthy balance, you must make more deposits in the “Love Bank” (through kind words and deeds) than you make withdraws (through unkind words and deeds). What a vivid lesson!

Think about it. You’ve got an “account,” so to speak, with everyone you know. If your balance drops into the negative (through your own deeds that “withdraw”), there will be consequences. What are you doing to make deposits? What are you saying to make deposits? Be kind. Be considerate. Be helpful. Be humble. Be like Jesus. And your balance will increase.
