Let's Go Back to the Bible

Looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck

2 Corinthians 5:17 is one of the most wonderful passages in all of Scripture – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  Christians are new creatures in the eyes of God, for we have been reconciled to God—changed from enmity to friendship (5:14-21).  Therefore, while he may struggle from time to time, the life of a Christian must look new, i.e., different than it once was!

But what about that Christian who, though he has a “new” life, looks like the world, walks like the world and talks like the world.  It is definitely the case that we cannot see a man’s heart (cf. 1 Sam. 16:7), but you can discern quite a bit about a person’s character by the way she dresses, the way he acts, the way he talks, the way she treats others, the way he spends his time, etc.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’s a duck.  What if a Christian looks like the world, walks like the world and talks like the world?
