Let's Go Back to the Bible

Long-term investment strategy

A financial investment article addressed how readily we accumulate debt sometimes, without giving any thought to the future. The article concluded with this statement, “It’s mostly because we’re very aware of the short-term and happily ignore the long term.” Isn’t that sometimes a summary of human life? We focus on the short-term (i.e., the here-and-now, the what-can-I-get-out-of-this-right-now, the instant-gratification) and neglect to consider the long-term?

Moses helps us to see how we need to redirect our focus. Moses so easily could have focused on his short-term gains, but he didn’t. “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward” (Heb. 11:24-26).

You are making an eternal investment with your soul. Don’t let any short-term joy rob you of your long-term reward!
