When we sang this song on Sunday night, the chorus of the song really settled deep in my heart. Most of us have sung this song hundreds of times (which sometimes leads us to overlook or under-appreciate the lyrics to some of the “old favorites”), but may each of us renew our heart each time we sing and make melody within it!
The song asks nine different “Would you” questions? “Would you live for Jesus…Would you have Him make you free…Would you in His service labor always at your best?” If so, the song answers with this appeal, “Let Him have His way with thee.”
Well, suppose I do “let Him have His way with me,” what will that do for me? Mediate on these three answers: (1) His power can make you what you ought to be; (2) His blood can cleanse your heart and make you free; (3) His love can fill your soul, and you will see it was best for Him to have His way with thee.” So, how about it—does Jesus have His way with you?
