Let's Go Back to the Bible

Kindness without partiality

A young adult male was waiting on customers at the bookstore café.  A group of young, attractive females came in and, one by one, ordered some pastries and drinks.  He gave each one of them his undivided attention, cheerfully greeting them, pleasantly joking with them, apparently flirting with them.  Walking in later and waiting at the back of the line were two young ladies who appeared to have Down syndrome.  My first thought (unfair to the young man) was, “Oh, no!  I hope he doesn’t treat them unfairly.”  They finally made it to the counter, and I watched nervously.  Much to my surprise (and delight), he gave each of them his undivided attention, cheerfully greeting them, pleasantly joking with them, apparently flirting with them, too.  It appeared to make their day.  My fear for them was proven dully unfounded.  I’m so glad!

That young man acted impartially and kindly, for he had no other reason than to so behave!  May God help us to not judge according to appearance or show favoritism to anyone, but may we see souls and treat them each as Jesus Himself would!
