Let's Go Back to the Bible

It’s all a choice — your choice!

Some people look at being a Christian as a life where “you have to do” a bunch of things you don’t really want to do, and “you aren’t allowed to do” a bunch of things that you really want to do. However, when it comes to the true Christian life, such could not be further from the truth.

If you want to serve God, that’s your choice…do it if you want to do it. If you don’t want to serve God, that’s your choice…don’t do it if you don’t want to do it. When it comes to giving, God says, “Let each  one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity” (2 Cor. 9:7). Not because you “have to do it”! God instructs elders, “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly” (1 Pet. 5:2). Not because you “have to do it”! Living the Christian life is a choice. And, even sin is a choice. “For if we sin willfully…” (Heb. 10:26). No one can make us sin; no one sins because they “have to sin.” It’s a choice, and you are the one who chooses for you!

So, what do you want to do? God will let you choose to serve Him or not. It’s your choice!
