Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I’m the only one that matters!”

It is fascinating (and, at times, frustrating) to observe young people today (teenagers, young adults and some children) walking across a street or walking down a street.  I would say that it is a weekly (if not multi-weekly) occurrence that I have to slow significantly and sometimes even come to a complete stop for individuals walking on the street (emphasis on “walking” rather than “running,” and “on the street” where big multi-ton vehicles travel at high rates of speed).  They are not in a hurry; they are not concerned about inconveniencing others.  At that moment, it is all about them and what matters to them (and that’s all that matters!).

Isn’t it amazing how conditioned we have become to expect others to yield to us, to wait on us, to serve us, to pour our drink for us, to take care of us, to clean up after us, to drop everything for us, to put us first no matter what!  May God help us, as Christians, to not be conditioned to this world and its example but to be conditioned to His Son and His example!
