Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I need to get over myself”

I have learned some great lessons from some great Christian servants! I have visited numerous people in the hospital (who were in there for a variety of reasons) and numerous other people who were in their last days and moments on this earth. While these folks needed great attention and comfort, it has been amazing to me how many of them have asked how others in the church are doing. I am there to encourage them, and they’re concerned about others.

This has helped me to learn that “I need to get over myself.” I may be having a rough day, but so are others. I may be struggling with things, but so are others. I have a choice. I can continue to focus on me and think how bad I’ve got it, or I can intentionally (and gradually more and more) put my focus on others and their needs.

There was one who lived who was a Master at “looking out for the interests of others” (Phil. 2:4-5). “Dear God, please help me to be more like Him every day!”
