Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I just feel in my heart”

We might hear someone say something and think, “I feel like that’s got to be right.” We might read a news report online and think, “I feel like that’s the right thing to do.” We might see a friend choose a certain path and think, “I feel like they’re ok in that.” We may be faced with a choice ourselves and think, “I feel like my choice is the best way to go.”

In some situations, choices and actions may not matter. Whether you buy creamy peanut butter over crunchy peanut butter is really immaterial and has no spiritual or eternal ramifications. BUT, when it comes to right and wrong…when it comes to truth and error…when it comes to sinful or not sinful…when it comes to pleasing to God or not pleasing to God, that’s when our feelings need to be brought into check and made submissive to the revealed will of God. “There is a way that seems (or feels, DS) right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov. 16:25). May God help us to separate Divine truth from human feelings and follow the former and control the latter.
