Let's Go Back to the Bible

How good are you at keeping track of offenses?

Some folks have better memories than others.  Usually we think of that as being a good thing; however, remembering everything is not necessarily “a good thing.”  When others make mistakes, is it always a good idea for you to remember everything?  When others commit offenses against you, is it always a good idea for you to remember everything?  When others sin, is it always a good idea for you to remember everything?

In the tremendous portrayal of Christian love in 1 Corinthians 13, the last quality of agape love mentioned in verse 5 is, “thinks no evil” (NKJV).  Other translations have: “does not take into account a wrong suffered” (NASB), “is not resentful” (ESV), “taketh not account of evil” (ASV), “keeps no record of wrongs.”  Do you keep an account of wrongs you have suffered?  Or, look at it another way.  Do you take joy in the idea that others may keep an account of the wrongs you have caused?  May God help us to be longsuffering, tenderhearted and forgiving!
