Let's Go Back to the Bible

How does God draw people to Him?

Sometimes people talk about how God “called” them to do something or they were “drawn” by God into a relationship with Him. While being “called” and “drawn” by God are Biblical concepts, people do not always use these terms in Biblical ways.

Jesus said in John 6:44, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” So how does the Father “draw” someone to come to Jesus? Keep reading. The next verse will answer the question. “It is written in the prophets” (which requires reading), “‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me” (6:45). The Father draws people to His Son by using what is written, to teach, so that people can hear and learn, and then decide if they will “come” or not.

God draws everyone in the same way–through His Word! Those who hear His Word are “taught” by God and “drawn” by God to respond. Everyone is invited in the same way!
