Let's Go Back to the Bible

Got your breastplate?

After belting your waist with God’s truth (note that His truth holds everything together), God calls upon us to ensure that we have armed ourselves with “the breastplate of righteousness” (Eph. 6:14). A breastplate was designed to protect the center mass, particularly a soldier’s heart. If the enemy could penetrate there, all hope was lost.

In order for our breastplate to do its job of protection today, we must “hunger and thirst for righteousness” (Matt. 5:6). Do you? It cannot be just a passing taste. We must “seek first…His righteousness” (Matt. 6:33). Do you? It cannot be a close second. We must not just coast along, but we must “pursue righteousness” (1 Tim. 6:11). Are you pursuing it? To be accepted by God, we must faithfully and diligently “work righteousness” (Acts 10:35). Are you?

So many things are after our hearts today! What can protect them? The righteousness of God! May God help us to “hold fast” to it (Job 27:6)!
