Let's Go Back to the Bible

God remembers you!

Scripture uses an interesting expression about God and certain ones of His people. “God remembered Noah…God remembered Abraham…God remembered Rachel…The Lord remembered [Hannah]…” (Gen. 8:1; 19:29; 30:22; 1 Sam. 1:19). This in no way indicates that the Lord had forgotten them or that they had slipped His mind or attention for a period of time.

Similar expression is used by Nehemiah repeatedly in his prayers. “Remember me, my God, for good…Remember me, O my God, concerning this…Remember me, O my God, concerning this also…Remember me, O my God, for good” (Neh. 5:19; 13:14, 22, 31).

What does this mean? It has nothing to do with God being forgetful, and it has everything to do with God choosing to act on behalf of His people. With merciful loving kindness, God seeks to protect and deliver His people. It is during such times that the Bible says that “God remembers.” How blessed we are as His children for God to remember us! — DS
