Let's Go Back to the Bible

Football is back—what kind of fan are you?

The much-awaited return of football season is here.  Now, for those who so choose, games can fill your entire weekend.  What kind of fan are you?  Are you a die-hard fan, who knows your team’s schedule by heart and speaks about them as “we” and “us”?  Are you up on the player’s stats and the opposing player’s strengths?  Or, are you a faithful fan, who catches the games, but may not know every detail about every player the way your friends do?  Or, maybe you’re the casual fan—you watch whatever games are on, enjoy the competition and stand amazed at the players’ athleticism, but then you don’t think much about it again until the next weekend.  Or, are you the “I-can’t-wait-for-football-season-to-be-over” fan, with zero interest in it whatsoever?

I’m not intending to pass any judgment here on what kind of football fan you are.  But, I do want to draw a quick parallel by asking a question.  If you were asked to liken your fervor as a Christian to one of these types of fans, which one would resemble you?  A die-hard Christian?  A faithful Christian?  A casual Christian?  A can’t-wait-for-this-to-be-over Christian?
