Let's Go Back to the Bible

Crash the party? I don’t think so!

Well, did they crash the party at the White House or not?  Were they invited or not?  Were they on the guest list or not?  If they weren’t on the guest list, then who let them in?  Were they really invited and on some list and now things are just being exaggerated for media purposes?  What really happened?

We may never know all the details about that couple getting into the White House dinner and whether they belonged there or not.  But, thinking about that story makes me think about the invitation and guest list for heaven.  First of all, everyone has received an invitation to be there (cf. Matt. 11:28-30), but not everyone is on the guest list (Matt. 7:13-27).  To have your name added to the guest list and to enter the gates of heaven, one’s name must be in the Book of Life (only added through obedience to the gospel, cf. Heb. 5:8-9; 12:23).  And, guess what?  No one is going to be in heaven who doesn’t belong.  “Only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life” will be there (Rev. 21:27)—no exceptions and no party crashers (cf. Luke 16:19-31).
