Let's Go Back to the Bible

Be the same person!

Each of us needs to honestly answer the following question. Let’s look inside our hearts and examine before we answer. “Am I the same person when I am speaking to someone face-to-face that I am when I am typing on a keyboard?” It is so easy to say some things (that I normally would not say) and to say them in a certain way (that I normally would not use) when I am not looking someone in the eye but am just typing on a keyboard. Is that a big deal?

The Bible speaks against this on many fronts. The Bible condemns any form of hypocrisy (Rom. 12:9; Jas. 3:17; 1 Pet. 2:1; Matt. 7:3-5), and this is definitely hypocrisy. The Bible condemns any form of deceit (1 Pet. 2:1; 3:10; Rom. 1:29; Jas. 1:26), and this is definitely deceit. In fact, there is no Biblical justification for a Christian to behave this way.

When you start typing a message to post online or to send to someone, ask yourself, “Would I say this to their face? Would I say this if Jesus was standing next to me?” Actually, He is!
