Boys and young men are often asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Here’s an answer (and it also works for those who are not so young anymore): Be a man!
Be a man like Enoch—walk with God! Be a man like Noah—save your family! Be a man like Abraham—trust fully in God! Be a man like Moses—respect the holiness of God! Be a man like Joshua—march to the beat of God’s drum! Be a man like Caleb—don’t ever age out of serving God! Be a man like Gideon—don’t worry how many are on your side! Be a man like Samuel—be a servant of God who listens to Him! Be a man like David—take on big challenges for God! Be a man like Isaiah—recognize your unworthiness! Be a man like Daniel—never compromise! Be a man like Nehemiah—lead when others don’t! Be a man like Peter—step out on faith in Jesus! Be a man like Paul—make changes to be right with God! Be a man like Jesus—humbly sacrifice for others!
What does our world need? What does the church need? What do families need? You…to be a man (1 Cor. 16:13, NASB)!
