Let's Go Back to the Bible

All of that for us

The prophetic picture of Jesus Christ in Isaiah 53 is just overwhelming.  Think about these words as they were used to describe our Savior—despised, rejected, Man of sorrows, grief, despised, did not esteem Him, stricken, smitten by God, afflicted, wounded, bruised, chastisement, stripes, the iniquity of us all, oppressed, afflicted, lamb to the slaughter, cut off, stricken, grave with the wicked, bruise, grief, offering for sin, the labor of His soul, bear their iniquities, poured out His soul unto death, numbered with the transgressors, bore the sin…

I wonder sometimes if we as Christians ever hide our faces from Him or do not esteem Him in our lives (v. 3).  When given the opportunity, Jesus did not hide His face from us.  Instead, because “the Lord…laid on Him the iniquity of us all,” our sins hid the face of God from His own Son (cf. Isa. 59:1-2).  Truly, Jesus esteemed others better than Himself (cf. Phil. 2:3-5).

Do our daily lives reflect the sacrificial picture of our Savior?  Think about it.
