Let's Go Back to the Bible

A man and his “best friend”

A man and “man’s best friend” went on a walk down a long road.  The road was straight and the day was clear, but the end of the road was in the distance in the horizon.  The man was carrying all of the load, including plenty of food, water, treats and medical aid for his “best friend.”  He decided not to put his “best friend” on a leash, but to let him walk freely and on his own.  After several days, it became apparent that the man was more determined for them to make it to the end than his “best friend” was.  He kept turning around and saying, “Come on!  Come on!  Follow me!  Let’s go!  You can make it!”  He kept giving him treats.  He kept picking him up and carrying him for long distances.  However, when they neared the end, the man turned around and his “best friend” was not there.  He had stopped several miles back and had given up.

This tale is not about a man and his dog.  It is about Christ and his “best friend” named “You.”  Nearly 20 times in the gospels, Jesus told His friends, “Follow Me!”  Now, He’s saying that to “You,” his “best friend.”  Reread the paragraph above and think about Him and “You”!
