Let's Go Back to the Bible

What’s On Your Thanksgiving List?

We often sing about counting our blessings. Will you take time to “look over my shoulder” and see some of the blessings in my life? Every blessing should result in praise and thanksgiving to Him who has opened the windows of heaven and poured out that blessing on Palm Beach Lakes.

I am thankful for “Coming Home” Sunday. I am thankful for the 3,000 letters and cards you sent to 100 weak Christians encouraging them to come for that Sunday. I am thankful for the more than twenty of them who visited us on that day.

I am thankful for the visible responses we have seen at Palm Beach Lakes in recent weeks. I am thankful for those five formerly inactive members who were restored in recent weeks and also for those who have become Christians.

I am thankful for the obvious improvement of so many in the welcoming of visitors to worship. Visitors are being consistently welcomed in the parking lot and in the foyer. More members are leaving the best parking places for visitors and, as strange as it may seem, I have actually seen members give up the “chief seats in the synagogues” (those choice seats at the end of the pews) and move down the aisle to honor guests with their seats.

I am thankful for all those working so diligently in our educational program. This includes those who are developing the curriculum, those who have spent more than a thousand hours preparing decorations for the classrooms, painting murals on the hallways and those who are teaching our children every week. I am also thankful for those who have worked tirelessly in getting ready for our VBS.

I am thankful that Josh Blackmer will soon be here to help us focus on the FAMILY and youth. The church truly is a FAMILY, and Josh’s efforts will provide avenues for us to become more and more involved in intergenerational involvement of the church.

I am thankful for my coworkers, David, June and Cindy. Our secretaries readily go the second mile to do all they can to serve this church. I am especially thankful for David and the many years we have had together and never had a single disagreement. Our hearts beat in unison.

I am thankful for our shepherds and our deacons who fulfill their roles so remarkably well. Our elders truly watch for our souls and lead us in paths of righteousness and our deacons have worked to help us be laborers with God.

I am thankful for so much more. There is no room for more, but there is so much more! Let me suggest you count your blessings and make your own “thanksgiving” list.
