Let's Go Back to the Bible

The Best Cleansing Agent Available—A Must Have!

Go to the grocery store and you will be overwhelmed with the variety and volume of cleaning agents and products.  It is absolutely amazing that entire aisles in a huge supermarket can be lined with every possible cleaning agent for every possible need.

There is hand soap (anti-bacterial, Softsoap, Dial, liquid, foaming, etc.), body soap (Dove, Olay, etc.), bath soap (bars, Zest, Irish Spring, etc.), hair soap (shampoos from Pantene, Suave, Pert, etc.), and teeth soap (toothpaste from Crest, Colgate, etc.).

There is dish soap (Palmolive, Dawn, etc.), dishwasher detergent (Cascade, SunLight, etc.), laundry detergent (Tide, Gain, Cheer, etc.), and stain remover (Shout, Spray ’n Wash, etc.).

There is window cleaner (Windex, Lysol, etc.), floor cleaner (Pinesol, Mop & Glo, etc.), carpet cleaner (Resolve, Rug Doctor, etc.), oven cleaner (Easy-Off, Simple Green, etc.), and shower/bath cleaner (Tilex, Scrubbing Bubbles, etc.).

And, if those products don’t suit your needs, there are always the all-purpose cleaning products that can clean countertops, tabletops, pet areas, tile, plastic, metal, porcelain, walls, etc. (Fantastik, 409, Comet, Soft Scrub, Clorox, etc.).

Of course, these products do not even begin to include the other cleaning agents you can pick up at the grocery store to use on your cars, jewelry, shoes, furniture, etc.  The list just goes on and on.

Aren’t you glad that when it came to cleansing agents for our souls that God only gave one choice?  There is not a variety from which to choose—to find one that you prefer over another or to find one that specifically will cleanse your particular sin.  There is one cleansing agent that is available to all men and will cleanse all sins.

“…The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

The first time this cleansing agent is applied is in the waters of Bible baptism—“…cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” (Eph. 5:26; cf. Titus 3:5; John 3:5).  After that initial cleansing, the blood of Christ continues to cleanse (as if the Lord reapplies it over and over and over again) as faithful Christians “walk in the light as He is in the light” (1 John 1:7).

Thanks be to God for that precious blood!
