Reasons from Scripture to Love Singing

So plentiful are the Bible verses that emphasize singing and praising God that the reasons for such praise cannot be fully listed here.  But, start with these reasons that God has given us to love singing.

I ought to love singing to God because “He is my God” (Ex. 15:2).  He “is my strength” (Ex. 15:2).  He has “been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psa. 59:16).  He is “my God of mercy” (Psa. 59:17).

I ought to love singing to God because “God is the King of all the earth” (Psa. 47:7).  “He has done marvelous things” (Psa. 98:1)…“excellent things” (Isa. 12:5)…and “wonderful things” (Isa. 25:1).  “The Lord is great and greatly to be praised” (Psa. 96:4).  “His greatness is unsearchable” (Psa. 145:3).  We sing to “utter the mighty acts of the Lord” (Psa. 106:2) and “talk of all His wondrous works” (Psa. 105:2).  “For He commanded and they were created” (Psa. 148:5).  “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psa. 139:14).  “He has triumphed gloriously” (Ex. 15:1, 21).  “Sing and praise [His] power” (Psa. 21:13). “Great is the glory of the LORD” (Psa. 138:5).  “His glory is above the earth and heaven” (Psa. 148:13).  “His counsels of old are faithfulness and truth” (Isa. 25:1).  “The truth of the Lord endures forever” (Psa. 117:2).

I ought to love singing to God because He “is worthy to be praised” (Psa. 18:3).  “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever” (Psa. 106:1).  “His merciful kindness is great toward us” (Psa. 117:2).  His “lovingkindness is better than life” (Psa. 63:3).  “He has dealt bountifully with me” (Psa. 13:6).  He has “redeemed…my soul” (Psa. 71:23).  “His name alone is exalted” (Psa. 148:13).

I ought to love singing to God because I get to “rejoice in [His] salvation” (Psa. 9:14).  I get to “proclaim the good news of His salvation” (Psa. 96:2).  I get to “praise the beauty of holiness” (2 Chron. 20:21).  I get to “make known [His] faithfulness to all generations” (Psa. 89:1).  I get to “praise [His] great and awesome name—He is holy” (Psa. 99:3).

I ought to love singing to God becauseit is good to sing praises to our God” (Psa. 147:1).  “It is pleasant” (Psa. 135:3) and “praise is beautiful” (Psa. 147:1).  “It is good to give thanks to the Lord” (Psa. 92:1).  It expresses “joy of heart” (Isa. 65:14), “gladness” (2 Chron. 29:30), “cheer” (Jas. 5:13), and “thanksgiving” (Psa. 100:4).

I ought to love singing to God with a heart that says, “I will sing praises to my God while I have my being” (Psa. 146:2), “I will be glad and rejoice in You” (Psa. 9:2), “My heart greatly rejoices” (Psa. 28:7), “My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing” (Psa. 71:23), “I will give thanks” (Psa. 18:49).
