Let's Go Back to the Bible

30th Annual Ladies’ Day

It is hard to imagine that when the first ladies day was conducted at Palm Beach Lakes thirty years ago that anyone could have ever envisioned the impact it would eventually have. It was small in the beginning with the speakers just being members at PBL. When its value was realized, it became a Thursday night dinner with special speakers from other places being featured. Now it has become the largest gathering of Christian ladies among congregations in the south Florida area.

There are several things which are unique. The funds for this evening come from special contributions made by our ladies so there is no additional cost for any who attend. It is a gift of love from our ladies to their sisters in south Florida. The dinner is served by the men of this congregation, who arrive early, serve with joy and stay until the eating area is perfectly clean. This enables the ladies, after enjoying the time spent together visiting and eating, to assemble in the auditorium for the spiritual feast that awaits them there. We have truly been blessed by the ladies who have exceptional talent who come to speak each year. The lessons are designed to be Biblically based with practical applications which first change the hearts of the listeners, and then change their lives.

The speaker this year will be Kathy Haynes. She has special ties with Palm Beach Lakes because her son, Casey, worked with our young people until late last year. She and her husband, Tommy, have worked with the Central congregation in Moore, Oklahoma for 25 years. Those who have heard her speak in other places have spoken so highly of her use of the Scriptures. We believe those who attend this year will be blessed by listening to her.

It all happens next week. The planning and preparation phase is about to become a reality. Let me urge every husband to encourage your wife to come. I am sure if you ask her if she would like to spend an evening with 300 other Christian ladies she would jump at the idea. Tell her she deserves it, and that you will take care of the kids, clean the house or do other chores as evidence of your love for her.

There are so many exciting things happening at Palm Beach Lakes. For the men, there is that Sunday afternoon leadership class which will impact this congregation for many years. We are thankful for all those who are coming an hour early to prepare themselves to serve Him.

Then, for our ladies, there is that spiritual feast which awaits them Thursday evening, April 19. It will be exciting!
