Let's Go Back to the Bible

The God of fire

The Greek “god of fire” was Hephaestus, one of the sons of Zeus, but he’s a lower case “g” god — i.e., a fake god! Do you know who the real “God of fire” is, with a capital “G”?

In Daniel 3, Nebuchadnezzar was furious with the unwavering faith of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Hego, so he had his fiery furnace heated “seven times more than it was usually heated,” until it was “exceedingly hot” (3:19, 22). The king’s mighty men of valor, who cast the three Hebrews into the fire, were killed by the flame (3:22), but the three Hebrews were completely unaffected by the flames, the heat or even “the smell of fire” (3:24-27). To the eye of the king and all other witnesses, the fire that killed his men looked and felt exactly like the fire in which four men walked unharmed. There could be only one explanation – God (3:28-29)!

The devil has heated a “fiery trial” against Christians for 2,000 years (1 Pet. 4:12-19; 5:8). How can you escape unscathed? God (2 Pet. 2:9)! Commit your soul to Him (1 Pet. 4:19)!
