Let's Go Back to the Bible

Happy or upside down?

Rather than putting your trust in man (Psa. 146:3), the Lord says, “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help” (146:5). When God is your help, look at what He does:

1. He raises those who are bowed down (v. 8).
2. He loves the righteous (v. 8).
3. He watches over the strangers (v. 9).
4. He relieves the fatherless and widow (v. 9).

If you are His, those are the blessings you can anticipate and enjoy. But, if you are not His, look at the last part of verse 9 — “The way of the wicked He turns upside down.” That is so illustrative! Turning their way upside down means that He “thwarts the way of the wicked” (NASB) or “brings [it] to ruin” (ESV).

Our living and personal knowledge that God is in control ought to make us happy! — DS
