How well are we doing in training our young women? Parents have the primary responsibility in raising their young girls/women “in the training and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). As additional support in this soul-critical endeavor, the Lord gave His church. In numerous ways, the church is able to benefit parents in the building of faith in the hearts of our young women.
Specifically, God has charged “the older women” in the church, “that they admonish (train, ASV; encourage, NASB) the young women…” (Titus 2:4-5). Among the seven items listed by God that need the attention of older women to younger women, let’s focus on just two them. “Train the young women to be…discreet (NKJV)” – or sensible (NASB), self-controlled (ESV). How are we doing in training our young ladies in this regard? The second one to contemplate is, “Train the young women to be…chaste (NKJV)” – or pure (NASB). How are we doing in training our young ladies in this regard? Brethren, older women, moms, dads, loving friends, it is time for us to train our children, lest the devil do it for us.
