It’s amazing how in a ball game that, from many spectators’ and players’ perspective, the score and the outcome are always the referee’s fault. Every call the referees make is always the wrong one and is always against your team. If your team loses the game, it is never because of your team’s play, but always someone else’s fault. Recently I listened to fans at such a game. Certain spectators were constantly yelling insults at the referees, and their team eventually lost. Of course, the team’s shooting percentage was about 20%, and they went about 3 for 9 from the foul line. They were out-rebounded 3-to-1 and turned the ball over more than a dozen times. No, they couldn’t have lost because of their poor performance! It was the ref’s fault!
This is the same way some folks go through life. “Everything is someone else’s fault” is the new motto for our nation and our parenting efforts. It is time that folks learn to take responsibility for their words and actions. On the day of judgment, we cannot blame someone else. “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God” (Rom. 14:12). Think about it!
