How beautiful is God’s design for His church! Everything that we know and need to know about it is found in His beautiful Scriptures! The church was planned by Jesus (Eph. 3:9-11), built by Jesus (Matt. 16:18), purchased by Jesus (Acts 20:28), started by Jesus (Acts 2:22-47), is loved by Jesus (Eph. 5:25), is governed by Jesus (Col. 3:17), is shepherded by Jesus (Heb. 13:20), is overseen by Jesus (1 Pet. 2:25), is ruled by Jesus (Eph. 1:22-23), and will be delivered by Jesus to the eternal reward of heaven (1 Cor. 15:24; Heb. 12:23; Eph. 5:26-27).
Jesus is “THE head of THE church” (Eph. 5:23). There is only ONE church (Eph. 4:4), and that one church has ONE head—Jesus Christ (Col. 1:18), who alone has “ALL authority” (Matt. 28:18). And the beautiful thing to remember is that THE head of THE church already died (and He died for THE church, Eph. 5:25). And, best of all, He rose from the dead, never to die again—“I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore” (Rev. 1:18).
